Mamma Mia

I remember when I was 13 I wanted to eat lemon pie and I asked to my mom to do one, but she told me that she didn’t know how to do it, so I had to learn by myself. That was the moment when me and my dad started to cook, because the truth is my mom doesn’t cook very well.

I really love eating pasta, so one day I learnt to cook spaghetti with pesto. I watched in TV a channel called “El Gourmet” and I followed the instructions. There are two chefs whom are really amazing! They are Francisco de Piero and
Osvaldo Gross. Since this day, every weekend me and my dad cook, there’s no a special date to do this.

To do the pesto, I put water to boil and I left a bowl with cold water and ice. When the water is ready I put the albahaca for five seconds in the hot water, and then I put in the cold one (the idea of this is the leaf looks more green). After this, I dry the leafs and put them in the blender with the olive oil and a garlic clove. Finally, when the mix is ready, I add salt and white cheese.

SUNSET ON WHEELS

Everytime I see this picture remains me the moment that me and my parents did that summer of 2014. We were watching TV with nothing else to do when my mother thought that it would be a great idea if we go on a trip. At the beginning, for my father and I it seems a crazy idea, but it didn’t take too much until we took all our bags and put it into the car, looking for a summer adventure.

Our destiny: Coquimbo. We left our house at 12 am. I was very excited because this was the first time we do something like this without any planification. My parents always make reservations for a room in La Herradura’s shore. This was new for all of us, but it think that was the magic of the experience.

On the way to the 4th region, we were the only ones traveling at that hour. The soul CD that my father put on the radio made the atmosphere more comfortable while me and my mother were talking about the things we should do when we arrive. It has been four hours since we started our journey when something unexpected happened. We were near Los Vilos when we stop in the middle of the highway because of a truckers protest. There, we spend more than seven hours trying to move from there.

After so much waiting, we finally reached Coquimbo. This photograph was taken when I got out of the car, the sun was just hiding in the hills. I like it because it reminds me of everything that we live in that place, it was worth, they were my best vacations.
