Flashback blog

My experience with the blog has been very good. At first I thought it would not matter, however, it surprised me that my ability to write was improving with every post. Plus to choosing technical issues, I learned many words I did not know which served me in what I want to specialize.

Moreover, I think it is important to mention what were my writing skills I developed. When writing different entries that had some technical language, I could interact with new words and manage a more formal language; also I can now create more fluent sentences.

It is also important to mention that the development of the class was not as optimal as expected because of the student movement which caused paralyze classes. This generated that the activities were less personalized.

I think that the class should’ve been more participatory so in this way we could’ve discussed about different topics or maybe talk about national contingency. To make the class better I think the contents should be strengthened with the objective of make the class more complete.

Finally, the post I like the most was “My favorite piece of technology” because I could talk about something I really love and I could show to my classmates my passion.

#PrensaChanta

I think the strikes that have been demonstrating for some time in most universities and secondary schools are an example of how the student movement has again organized to fight for a better education.

I know the forms of struggle at this point are worn, however, this year I learned how to visualize different demands from my profession from my skills and test everything they've learned.
One of the big problems in Chile is that citizens are not being informed and traditional media communicate only what suits them, we know that today the student movement is being criminilize by the people, because only shown on TV its bad action. To act against the mainstream media, intervene and make citizens wake up is a great reward,

evaluating how they have carried out the actions of the student movement, I think we still need to articulate with other organizations and the fight even more national. It can not be that the government does not yet have concrete solutions in structural policies such as the "Reforma Educacional" which is about to enter parliament. We can't allow that there is censorship nor repression that today we see every day by the police

I am disappointed that there are comrades who have no interest in participating in these actions since the struggle that is taking place is for a common good and not for a few. It is now where we have the opportunity to be agents of change and not stay on the sidewalk in front looking at the big picture.

Science Journalism

This semester I decided to return to my scientific side, so I joined the science journalism class. The subject is “Communication, science and society”, I have learned many interesting things about science, and how that information can be transfer to society.

The important thing is that helps you to know what are the policies that the country with respect to advances both scientific and technological.  Among the policies that I learned, Genetically modified food is so interesting. Are foods produced from organisms that have had changes introduced into their DNA using the methods of genetic engineering. Genetic engineering techniques allow for the introduction of new traits as well as greater control over traits than previous methods such as selective breeding and mutation breeding.

Before knowing some things about genetically modified food, I saw the transgenics as a bad thing, but not now. It's just a technological tool, the problem is not the use of the technique, but is in the abuse occurs today with large hectares production.

within the activities to investigate Genetically modified food, we went to a laboratory of molecular genetics, where we can discussed the labeled products and the large number of transgenic seeds that are exporting Chile, such as soy that is one hundred percent transgenic.

Everything is relative

The man in the picture is Stephen William Hawking, is an English theoretical physicist, cosmologist, author and Director of Research at the Centre for Theoretical Cosmology within the University of Cambridge. Hawking for me is a Einstein of our time. Their knowledge will transcend many generations, and it is a great opportunity to know and learn about its history in my own time.

His scientific works include a collaboration with Roger Penrose on gravitational singularity theorems in the framework of general relativity, and the theoretical prediction that black holes emit radiation, often called Hawking radiation. Hawking was the first to set forth a theory of cosmology explained by a union of the general theory of relativity and quantum mechanics. He is a vigorous supporter of the many-worlds interpretation of quantum mechanics.

Hawking has a rare early-onset, slow-progressing form of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), commonly known as motor neurone disease in the UK, that has gradually paralysed him over the decades. He now communicates using a single cheek muscle attached to a speech-generating device.
This disease presented a challenge for people to know it , was named "Ice bucket challenge" and millions of people could join the cause. I admire him very much for your courage to stand up to the world, to go ahead despite his great illness.

I like a quote that says "I have noticed even people who claim everything is predestined, and that we can do nothing to change it, look before they cross the road."
