Hi! My name is Marco Jiménez. I was born on november 5 of 1994, in Santiago the capital of Chile. This is located in South America -the last place on earth haha-. The part of the city I live in is called Maipú. It's a really big town and is known for having a big population and beeing far away from Santiago's downtown, I live with my father, who works in construction, my mother, who is a tailor, and my grandma.
During my youth I did not have many hobbies. I used to play slackline and took violin lessons, but my favorite hobby always was -and is- photography.
I studied in two schools: The first one was "Haydn school" where in did my elementary school. For highschool I went to "Alberto Widmer", now I estudying journalism at Universidad de Chile, but I really like the idea of being photojournalist.

Journalism allows us to see different realities, besides we can empathize with the rest and sometimes we have the oportunity of beeing "a voice" for others who can't say what they think. In my country information is a privilege. Most of the people lives misinformed, in addition many of them don't have the chance of having their own opinion. If I can help a little bit to democratize the media in my country, it would be really rewarding. Journalism is powerful and it should not be in hands of the villains.
I admire you 'cause the sacrifice you make all mornings waking up earlier than others. I also like very much your vision of Journalism, continue thinking like that Marco!

ResponderBorrarMarco, it's comforting to read this. The idea of the new journalists is that they believe in the media democracy and the right to information. Go for it!
